BLACK GESTAPO (1975). I had high hopes for this one since it
was directed by the same guy who did LOVE CAMP 7, THE THING WITH
TWO HEADS and CHAIN GANG WOMEN and the lurid ad campaign featuring
gangs of baaaaad soul brothers done up in nazi regalia had me
thinking this was more than just another blaxploitation yarn.
Well, it wasn't really.
It was a bit unusual since it featured black on black violence
and the plot was sort of animal farm in the hood what with the
black gestapo getting corrupted by absolute power and splitting
into two factions and all. One plot turn was pure brilliance though;
A group of white gangsters who are at war with the titular paramilitary
group decide to just pack it in. They have a meeting, agree to
split town, and by god they're not seen for the rest of the film.
How refreshing is that? Can you imagine how many lame action movies
could be finished in half the time if they used this idea?
MOBSTER HENCHMAN: "What do we do now boss, should we make widows
of their wives and orphans of their children"?
MOBSTER BOSS: "Nah, fuck that noise, fellas, we're going to Miami
Beach!"
GANG: "YAYY!!!!!"
