Why Doesn't Cathy Eat Breakfast?

Young Cathy is roused from her groovy bed with this question by our puzzled narrator; and in short order Cathy turns down cereal, fruit, bacon and eggs, pancakes, apple pie, pizza pie, beans and rice, cake , ice cream, chow mein, rice pudding and a lightly poached egg. Since none of this appeals to Cathy, maybe it's her family at fault. We're treated to a fantasy sequence of a shrewish mom berating Cathy about not eating right, and of mean brothers and sisters fighting at the table. But that's not it, and the fridge is fully stocked with goodies, SO WHAT'S THE FUCKIN' DEAL, BITCH?!?!

As Cathy rides off into the urban ghetto that was the home of any kid who was part of 2nd unit photography on SESAME STREET the film ends, urging us to figure out why Cathy don't eat. Our top theory right now is some sort of drug abuse or eating disorder but I like to think that maybe Cathy just isn't hungry in the morning. Healthy eating schedules can be disrupted by irregular sleep; and studies show that young teens like Cathy need more sleep than assholes like the ones who made this movie would ever allow.
