The last thing the fanboy world needs is yet another long-winded pontification on a Russ Meyer movie, but pictures of naked breasts sure do seem to increase the traffic on the site for some reason, so here's a few thoughts Meyer's amazing VIXEN (68):

-You don't get to see enough movies featuring infidelity, incest, racism, and lesbianism that end with a anti-communism message so you should really see this one.

-A plot as outrageous as the one in VIXEN could have been filmed by any director and the result would have been an outrageous movie, but Meyer's direction and editing are always more over the top than anything the nutty plots could achieve. The camera and editing cut and zip this way and that in a way that should result in headachey confusion but somehow appears seamless. I read an article once about comics legend Jack Kirby that described his writing in his loopier 70's work as not dialogue but "Word Jazz". Meyer did not make movies so much as compose "Film Jazz". There ain't nothing in the world like a Russ Meyer movie. (Tread Note: I perform "Film Jizz" while watching Vixen)
