Hmmm, RAPE SQUAD aka Act of Vengence (1974), and with a title
like Rape Squad I
can't figure out why this thing hasn't gotten a special edition
re-release.
This one opens with a woman getting attacked by a jumpsuit wearing,
hockey masked sexual predator who predated Mike Myers (not Austin
Powers, the other one) and Jake Vorhees by a few years. At this
point the nudity and swearing kick in proving that this was not
made for TV even though the way it's shot and the awesome music
had us wondering if Barnaby Jones was under there.
The lady gets no sympathy from the male police force (because
men are such utter worthless shit, natch) and she soon bonds with
other rape victims (including another who was attacked by mister
hockey mask) and they form the marvel comics group super team
that should have been. By the way, El Hockey Loco forces his prey
to sing "Jingle Bells" while he does the deed. Despite this, an
APB for Santa Claus is never put out by the cops.
Anyhow, the rape squad takes karate lessons, which consist of
a woman showing them how to hit an attacker in the stomach with
a lead pipe and hand out some flyers and in general make a stand
for womyn everywhere. They never really stop any RAPISTS or anything
but they do manage to pad the film out a good 45 minutes until
Hockey Mask Guy takes it upon himself to bring about a final showdown.
In which, of course, that pencil-dicked evil alpha- male scumbag
(played brilliantly by Peter Brown of everything from Disney films
to TV soaps to Kitten With A Whip) gets a richly deserved Gyno-American
can of whoopass opened up on his butt.
In retrospect I think I would have been less disturbed by an
actual snuff film. RAPE SQUAD!!
